Although the Star of David (or Magen David) is a relatively new Jewish symbol, it is the emblem most commonly associated with Judaism today. It represents the shape of King David's shield, but was not specifically associated with Judaism until the Middle Ages.

The six-pointed star is made from the combination of two equilateral triangles symbolizing the inseparability of the Jewish people.
