The Celtic Trinity Knot predates Christianity and was a Celtic symbol of the triple aspects of the Goddess (Maiden, Mother and Crone). It was later adopted by Christian Church as the representation of the "three in one" concept of the Trinity (Father, Son, and Holy Ghost).
