The spiral symbol is perhaps the oldest sign of human spirituality. It has been found scratched into rocks from thousands of years ago, on every continent in the world. In Ireland, the great Megalithic tomb at Newgrange was constructed about 3200 BC and is decorated with spirals, concentric circles, and triangles.
For the Celts the spiral was used to represent the sun, and the divisions between life, death, and rebirth. The whorls of the spiral are said to represent the journey of the soul from inner life to a higher spirit form.
Today, the spiral remains an important symbol of the Goddess in the Wiccan religion.
Our Celtic Spiral & Trinity Knot Band combines this ancient symbol with the equally powerful trinity knot to create a ring honoring human spiritual growth.
