Celtic and Nordic dragons were magical animals derived from ancient myths. They were creatures of fire but they were also connected to the power of the land. The Earth was perceived by the Druids as the body of the Dragon.
The dragon represents power and sovereignty (pendragon is the Celtic word meaning chief) and dragons were a common symbol on heraldic crests. Dragons were mythically known to guard great treasure, so dragon crests were symbols of powerful and wealthy people.
Today, dragons are still a powerful symbol of strength both physical and spiritual.
